IPL Photofacials

InMode IPL photofacials are a widely used, effective skin rejuvenation treatment. Harnessing the power of intense pulsed light (IPL), Youth Lab photofacials can address a range of skin concerns, from age spots to wrinkles, rosacea, spider veins, and more, providing a non-invasive solution for improving the health and appearance of your skin.

What is IPL Photofacial and How Does It Work?

Photofacials use intense pulsed light to treat several skin concerns effectively. Unlike traditional laser treatments that use one wavelength of light, IPL emits a wide spectrum of light wavelengths that treat several skin conditions simultaneously.

The intense pulses of light penetrate the skin to target specific areas of pigment, like areas where melanin has built up to form an age spot or blood vessels.

IPL can do this without causing damage to the surrounding skin cells, and the energy from the light also stimulates collagen production and promotes skin rejuvenation.

By targeting pigment irregularities and promoting skin cell turnover, IPL photofacials can help individuals achieve a clearer, more youthful complexion.

Benefits of IPL Photofacials

Skin conditions suitable for IPL treatment include:

IPL can also significantly impact signs of aging by reducing fine lines and wrinkles while improving overall skin texture and tone in the face, neck, arms, legs, and hands. Whether you’d like to look younger again or prevent signs of aging, an IPL facial can rejuvenate the skin quickly with little downtime.

What to Expect During an IPL Photofacial Treatment

When you get your IPL photofacial done at Youth Lab, your provider will apply a cooling gel to the skin before using InMode’s IPL device to deliver pulses of light to the treatment area.

You may experience slight discomfort, but your photofacial won’t be painful. Topical numbing cream can be used to minimize the discomfort you experience.

IPL is considered safe, potential side effects like redness, swelling, or mild discomfort may occur post-treatment. Following post-care instructions, including avoiding sun exposure and adhering to a recommended medical-grade skin care routine, can minimize side effects and optimize results.

Your Youth Lab provider will also recommend keeping the treated area moisturized, using sunscreen diligently, and avoiding harsh skincare products that may irritate the skin.

How IPL Therapy Compares to Other Skin Rejuvenation Treatments

While laser treatments and BroadBand Light (BBL) therapy are other popular methods for skin rejuvenation, they work differently.

IPL uses broad-spectrum visible light, targeting various skin concerns with different wavelengths. It is less targeted than laser therapy, making it more versatile for treating a wider range of conditions. However, it typically requires more sessions for comparable results. In contrast, laser treatments use a single, focused wavelength of light, making them more precise and often more effective for specific issues like deeper wrinkles, scars, or targeted hair removal.

BBL, a type of IPL, offers benefits similar to traditional IPL but may be able to provide more intense and effective treatments due to increased precision. Choosing between IPL, laser, or BBL treatments is a personal choice that ultimately depends on your desired treatment outcomes and the advice of your Youth Lab provider.

Frequently Asked Questions

The length of treatment depends on what area is being treated. For example, the face may take 20-30 minutes, while other areas, like both legs, may take up to an hour. It’s not an overly time-consuming treatment, but we recommend blocking off at least an hour.

We recommend at least three sessions, one every four weeks. After those initial treatments, you can discuss further maintenance with your Youth Lab provider.

In advance of your treatment, you should avoid tanning beds and excessive sunlight exposure and ensure you aren’t taking medications that increase light sensitivity.
